NYSERNet Projects - Current Projects
NYSERNet is a founding member of the Quilt, a coalition of advanced regional network organizations operating under the auspices of Internet2, which has proved a valuable and dynamic forum for sharing ideas, using the significant aggregate buying power to leverage commercial pricing. The Quilt's Commodity Internet Services project (CIS) has, through several national RFPs, dramatically reduced the cost of commodity Internet from Quilt designated and indeed from all vendors. The Quilt has sponsored several workshops on optical networking with NYSERNet as an invited participant because of its optical initiatives.
